NAIL WITHIN – Sound Of Demise

After an impressive debut album released in 2002, NAIL WITHIN return to the scene with their new studio album “Sound Of Demise” that contains 11 new songs and features guests like Eric Peterson (Testament) or Tom Angelripper (Sodom).

It was mostly written in 2022 and recorded during second half of 2022 and early 2023. The recording sessions took place between Southern California, USA, and Tel Aviv, Israel.

When the debut came out, the guys were mostly 25 years old and now, 21 years later, the world is even more chaotic, scary, and narrow-minded than before, and the songs reflect a point-of-view written by men in their late 40’s that sadly found out that the more things change, the more they stay the same – especially
taking into consideration that the band is coming from Israel, a country known for its rich history, but also for the never-ending conflict in the area.

Stronger songwriting and straight-forward lyrics whose themes are often dark, emotional and occasionally rooted in personal experiences.

The music is still very much riff oriented and aggressive but also melodic and blends classic death/thrash with some hardcore elements, all balanced out with melodic, dual guitar leads.

Vocalist Yishai Sweartz comments:
“I think ‘Sound Of Demise’ is more straight-forward than the debut in a way. On the debut we had these thrash metal touches, especially in the production, but we were pretty much influenced by bands as At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, etc., when it came to the songwriting, you know, the Swedish style. Here we toned
down the beautiful/melancholic vibe of melodies and gave more space to our thrash metal roots, even hardcore in some parts. We went to the sources of the bands we grew up with, like Testament, Slayer and Kreator, and tried to add some hardcore and death metal spice on top and blend it all together to come out
with a sound of our own.”
