New Wave Of Low Lands Heavy Metal 1979-1984
“Een dubbel lp in een box met een boek”
Een compilatie van de pioniers van de heavy metal uit Nederland en België, verkrijgbaar in drie varianten. Als dubbel-cd (23 tracks, incl. EN linernotes), dubbel-vinyl (21 tracks, incl. EN linernotes) en verpakt in een exclusieve box. De boxset bevat naast het dubbel-vinyl (incl. EN linernotes) een opnaai embleem en een boek van 76 pagina’s met interviews, reportages, foto’s, tour posters etc. (boek tekst in NL).
De compilatie en het boek zijn samengesteld door schrijver A.H.J. Dautzenberg en Vincent Loozen. Ze leveren hiermee een document af van grote cultuurhistorische waarde en concentreren zich op de Belgische en Nederlandse scene in de jaren 1979 tot en met 1984. Dat was het tijdperk waarin harde
muziek in de lage landen langzaam vorm kreeg.
CRASH! BANG! WALLOP! is een tijdsdocument van de prille begindagen van een nieuw muziekgenre. Een periode waar er nog geen sprake was van subgenres, waardoor de plaat heel divers en uiteenlopend is geworden; van meer naar blues neigende classic rock (Bodine en Teaser), ruwe garage proto metal (S To S en Vopo’s) tot prille speedmetal (Acid en The Rogers).
Naast een zeer bijzondere vroege demo-uitgave van Bodine’s Shooting Dice bevat de compilatie als primeur twee niet eerder uitgebrachte nummers van: Mover, de eerste band van Arjen Lucassen en van het Belgische Victim.
Boek (verkrijgbaar bij de 2LP boxset)
Voor het boek interviewden Dautzenberg en Loozen onder anderen Metal Mike en vertellen het verhaal van Aardschok, het blad dat als een rode draad door het boek loopt. Maar ook dat van Rave On, het eerste metal-platenlabel van de lage landen. En de opkomst en ondergang van het nog steeds door Metallica en Slayer bejubelde Belgische Heavy Sound Festival, het eerste metalfestival op het Europese vasteland. En wie herinnert zich Hanneke Kappen nog, de presentatrice van radioprogramma Stampij? En een interview met Kate De Lombaert, de eerste frontvrouw van een metalband. Maar ook een gesprek over de jaren van lange haren en wilde gitaren met de als hardrocker begonnen Rowwen Hèze-zanger Jack Poels.

“A double LP in a box with a book”.
A compilation by the pioneers of heavy metal from the Netherlands and Belgium, available in three different formats. As a double CD (23 tracks incl. EN linernotes), double vinyl (21 tracks incl. EN linernotes) and double vinyl packed in an exclusive box. The box set contains the double vinyl, a patch plus a 76-page book with interviews, reports, photos, tour posters, etc. (book text in Dutch).
The compilation and the book were compiled by writers A.H.J. Dautzenberg and Vincent Loozen. They deliver a document with great cultural-historical value and focus on the Belgian and Dutch heavy metal scene in the years 1979 to 1984. That was a time when hard music slowly took shape in the Low Countries.
CRASH! BANG! WALLOP! is a time document about the early days of a new music genre. A period here there were no sub-genres yet, making the album very diverse and varied with more blues leaning classic rock (Bodine and Teaser), raw garage proto metal (S To S and Vopos) and fledgling speed metal (Acid and The Rogers).
In addition to a very special early demo release of Bodine’s Shooting Dice, the compilation includes as a first time ever, two previously unreleased songs by: Mover, Arjen Lucassen’s first band, and from Belgium’s Victim.
Book (available with the 2LP boxset)
For the book Dautzenberg and Loozen interviewed Metal Mike and tell the story of Aardschok, the magazine that runs like a thread through the book. It also includes the story of Rave On, the first metal record label in the Low Countries, and the rise and fall of the Belgian Heavy Sound Festival, still praised by Metallica and Slayer, and the first metal festival on European mainland. And who doesn’t remember Hanneke Kappen, host of radio program Stampij? Plus an interview with Kate De Lombaert, the first front woman of a metal band. Also included a conversation about the years of long hair and wild guitars with Rowwen Hèze singer Jack Poels, who started out as a hard rocker.
