Five Finger Death Punch has something to celebrate: the band’s 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the band released a new album, ‘Legacy’, and will be heading out on a world tour once again. On this 10th album, guitarist and band leader Zoltan Bathory has once again ensured that the familiar 5FDP formula remains intact for the fans.
In addition to singer Ivan Moody’s powerful vocal outbursts, this album once again lets us enjoy pumping guitars, fat bass lines, heavy drums, and cleverly crafted song structures—often featuring built-in moments of calm to build up to the dynamic climaxes. And the band has succeeded in doing just that once again.
jackhammer
5FDP’s formula is well-known by now, so fans can buy this album with their eyes closed—they certainly won’t be disappointed.
Riffs fly at you with the force of a jackhammer. Your blood starts pumping faster through your body again. No, seriously, anyone who loves this band is sure to love ‘Legacy’ too.
From the album opener “Legacy” to the closing track “Scapegoat,” and everything inbetween, these guys are a blast to listen to once again. A killer sound, heavy bass and guitar riffs, pounding drums, and Moody’s raspy vocals make this album another one to savor.
bad guys
What does stand out is the running time of this new album—at 37 minutes, it’s certainly not a super-long album. But better that than an album padded out with four meaningless filler tracks.
Five Finger Death Punch is a band you either love or hate, but with ‘Legacy’, the group has a strong asset that could win over more fans.
It may be almost a trend to hate on this band, but ‘Legacy’ is a great album that, once again, is simple yet memorable. Most of the songs offer excellent variety, and the lack of “fucks” in particular shows that the guys are moving beyond their “bad guy” image.
With ‘Legacy,’ Five Finger Death Punch has once again delivered an album the band can be proud of.
For all fans, buy it right away; for the haters, give it a good listen—and then buy the album too. There’s plenty of new material to carry them through the upcoming world tour.
