The evening was advertised under the slogan “An Evening with the King.” An evening with Paul Quinn, co-founder of the band Saxon, and Harrison Young, whom we know from his work with bands such as U.D.O. and Doro, among others. We could expect an intimate evening with great stories and acoustic renditions of classics.
No egos, no unnecessary attitude

And that, in a nutshell, is also the best description of the show the guys put on. No egos, no unnecessary attitude—just let the music do the talking. At least, that’s Mr. Quinn’s motto—the yin. Mr. Young is definitely the yang of the duo. Harrison is more than happy to tie everything together and does so in a charming way. But what stands out most is the respect they have for one another and the camaraderie among these gentlemen.
The audience got a truly intense experience with the man who was part of a band called Saxon for over 40 years. There were certainly some die-hard fans in the crowd who found the whole thing incredibly exciting.
no spring chicken

Of course, people might also know Harrison and Paul from their band The Cards, which they formed after Paul left Saxon. They played a few tracks from that album as well that evening, along with some covers of the Stones and the Beatles. But to be honest, the biggest reaction really came from the Saxon songs.
At 74 years old, Mr. Quinn is no spring chicken, and that’s certainly not what he’s looking for. The man has seen and experienced it all before, so he just thinks it’s awesome to perform alongside Harrison. Whether that’s in this setting or with The Cards, it doesn’t matter. The main thing is to make and enjoy some great music.
a chat and a photo

We can safely say we were part of a special evening, and after the show, everyone had the chance to take a photo with the guys or have a chat. Unfortunately, Paul was suffering from a persistent headache, which meant they didn’t play their cover of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades.” Some people were disappointed about that, but other than that, there was definitely nothing to complain about.
A fun and entertaining evening with the King.
