On Friday, March 27, the guys from Triggerfinger performed a special club show at the Rockfabrik in Ubach-Palenberg [DE].
This show served as a warm-up for major upcoming festival dates such as Bospop and Paaspop.
It was, therefore, a rare opportunity to see the band perform in a relatively small venue for them.

Singer/guitarist Ruben Block and drummer Mario Goossens are the driving forces behind Triggerfinger, and the latter’s drum kit is prominently placed at the center of the stage.
Current bassist Geoffrey Burton, therefore, takes a modest role on stage. The stage is sparsely decorated, and the same goes for the lighting show. Throughout the entire gig, only the backlights are used, with no front lighting at all. Quite a challenge for the photographers among us. But I do love a challenge.
The sound, on the other hand, was certainly not sparse—it was simply massive!

The Rockfabrik was packed to the rafters with enthusiastic fans, and the atmosphere was electric right from the start. The opening songs—“Geronimo,” “Colossus,” and “By Absence Of The Sun”—blasted through the speakers with incredible energy.
Mario proved himself to be a natural showman and shared frontman duties 50/50 with Ruben.
It’s also immediately clear that the guys are really up for putting on a killer show.
Since I didn’t really know any of the band’s songs besides the hit “I Follow Rivers,” I was pretty surprised by them. In fact, that hit is actually one of the weaker songs I’ve heard played at the Rockfabrik.
Here we have an amazing rock trio rocking out on stage, and we got to witness it firsthand.
A truly special show
All in all, this Triggerfinger show lasted just under an hour and a half, which is about the average length of a festival live set. In any case, I think the audience was treated to a truly special show.
One I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to miss.
